Session I (8:30a - 9:45p) ESTES ROCKETS: Rocketry Activities to bring Artemis to Elementary Classrooms - We are going back to the moon! Generate excitement for the Artemis missions with hands on STEM activities for your students. K-3 session will focus on activities for students to interact with the four forces involved in flight (gravity, thrust, lift, and drag). 4-6 session will highlight a lesson investigating the impact of weather on rocket launches. We will end the session with a group launch of the Estes NASA SLS scale model rocket, and all teachers will receive a beginner rocket to take home with them! PRESENTERS: Dr. Nicole Sjoblom, Partnerships and Outreach Manager; Nicole Freyschlag, Education Manager 3DUXDESIGN: Cardboard Construction: From Tips and Tricks to Projects with Impact - Ditch the laptops and get ready for hands-on fun. In this workshop, we will explore how we can create incredibly engaging and authentic cross-curricular learning opportunities using basic materials like cardboard and other crafts. PRESENTER: Marci Klein M.D. / co-founder 3DuxDesign COLORADO CUBING: How to Solve a Rubik’s Cube - The class will explain the benefits of solving a Rubik’s Cube and how these critical thinking skills used will carryover into academics and future career paths. These solving skills promote hand eye coordination, focus, and increased memory. Not only is this a fun and affordable toy, but it encourages our children to believe that they can achieve the things they thought were once impossible. PRESENTER: Christy Felix, Speech-Language Pathologist SPHERO: Inventing with Sphero littleBits - In this session, educators will be introduced to the littleBits Invention Cycle - a powerful tool for guiding students through the invention and engineering design process. The session will kick off with an overview of littleBits by Sphero, followed by a fun and hands-on challenge. After the challenge, the groups will reflect on their experience and discover how it connects to the littleBits Invention Cycle. Educators will leave with a solid understanding of how to implement this process in the classroom, empowering their students to unleash their inner inventors and solve real-world problems. PRESENTERS: Kendra Werner- Senior Product Manager at Sphero, Layne Rainey, Sr. Education Partnerships Manager at Sphero, Nate Ubowski, Training Team at Sphero
